Limited edition of 1.500 pieces.

Animation director Chuck Jones and writer Michael Maltese sifted through many alternatives before arriving at the Road Runner character, who would be chased by coyote. The prevalence of roadrunners in southern California provided impetus to the creation of a cartoon about the funny little birds called road runners. Road runners can run about 21 or 22 miles an hour. “They spread their little stubby wings and shoot up to the top of a big swirl of cactus and vibrate to a stop,” Chuck Jones recounted. “I always thought they were funny- funny by the way they move, not by what they look like.” Enter the Coyote, who is always hungry, and the chase is on. Wile E. Coyote tries every means he has to trap the Road Runner. Despite Wile E’s determined tinkerings, Road Runner always manages to outmaneuver him Whenever the chase gets close, Road Runner delivers a well-timed “Beep! Beep!” unfurls his little tongue, steps up the power and shoots away.

Road Runner is made of blue mohair with embroidered eyes. He is stuffed with synthetic filling material and is standing.

He comes with box and certificate.

Behind every good Road Runner is…well, a coyote…Wile E. Coyote, to be specific. The creators originally intended the cartoons to be spoofs of other cartoons; instead they became successes in their own right. Jones considered many alternatives before deciding on the coyote and roadrunner characters. Jones as a child had read Mark Twain’s book, “Roughing It,” which contained an entire chapter on jackrabbits and coyotes (ergo, Wile E. Coyote). In “Operation:Rabbit,” the coyote is featured with a new adversary - Bugs Bunny. This was one of the few appearances in which Wile E. speaks, alas, to no avail. Bugs still manages to elude the persistent coyote. Legend has it that Jones was motivated to continue the series after receiving a letter from a Naval Air Force captain stating that his flight training pilots were calling “Beep! Beep!” to each other during maneuvers. Road Runner continued to be Wile E. Coyote’s target in the majority of his remaining cartoons. Wile E. persists in pursuing Road Runner even after his efforts have been thwarted time and time again.

Long text        Sylvester….the quintessential tomcat. All the cat food he can eat, and still he insists on following his instincts and persistently pursues the most elusive of meals Tweety. Sylvester, however, has been a slave to his instincts since the beginning of his long film career. Sylvester debuted uttering the line, “Sufferin’ Succotash!” which would became his classic trademark. Freleng tried several versions of the cat-chase-bird formula, beginning with a cartoon with a diabolical twist: Sylvester stumbles upon a suicidal lovebird who has had a fight with his wife and is now intent on finding his way into Sylvester’s mouth! Puzzled by the bird’s desire to be devoured, Sylvester immediately becomes suspicious and refuses to eat the bird. Sylvester eventually relents, but the bird receives a telegram from his wife asking him to return home. The tables turn and Sylvester chases the bird, until the end of the cartoon when the wife returns and the bird once again wants to be eaten.

When director Isadore “Fritz” Freleng was preparing a cartoon featuring Sylvester the cat, with a woodpecker whom Freleng had used in a previous short, he decided instead to use a little yellow bird, rather than the woodpecker, resulting in the short “Tweetie Pie” which went on to win an Academy Award. Once again an Oscar was wan for “Birds Anonymous” in which Sylvester (unsuccessfully) tries to give up chasing birds altogether, and joins a support group of cats with the same affliction. Tweety and Sylvester became an enduring hit comedy team. New characters were introduced to broaden the cat-chasing-bird formula including Granny (Tweety’s nearsighted owner). Tweety’s “I tawt I taw a puddy tat!” innocent view of the world make the contradictory force of his actions hilarious. Neither malicious nor hostile, Tweety dispatches his predators with startling speed an a wallop that surprises and delights audiences.
